Maidsville is an unincorporated community in Monongalia County, West Virginia, United States. Maidsville is located along West Virginia Route 100 north-northwest of downtown Morgantown. During the period after the Civil War, this tiny town was predominantly a farming community, the two largest farms on either side of the village owned by the Courtney and Sanders families. Coal seams were discovered on both farms and between 1915 and 1950, there was an influx of immigrant families - Czech, German, Irish, Italian, Polish and Scots - many who came to work in nearby coal mines. The Courtney farm was eventually acquired by Christopher Coal (later CONSOL); the Sanders farm remained independent and experienced early union organizing issues from some of its mine workers. For much of this period there were two churches; a small one-room Maidsville Elementary school (grades 1 thru 4); a separate A. L. Wade School (grades 1-6); three beer gardens and one very small gas station. Daily bus service between Mount Morris, Pennsylvania and Morgantown was available. Maidsville has a post office with ZIP code 26541.〔(ZIP Code Lookup )〕 Near Maidsville is the Longview Power Plant, the cleanest, most efficient coal-fired power plant in the 13 state PJM Interconnection and one of the cleanest and most efficient in the United States.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Emissions Tracking Highlights )〕 ==References==
